The 2027 Training Institute For Arts in Health AND Creative aging
Stories are how we make sense of our world. They are also how we connect. This year, the Training Institute explores storytelling as a core clinical, creative and relational practice that supports the health and wellbeing of individuals, families and communities.
Over four days, you will learn from artists, educators, art therapists, clinicians, public health professionals, researchers and cultural leaders who are bringing the arts into hospitals, community settings and programs for older adults. You will leave with practical tools, new colleagues and fresh ideas for your own work.
Areas of focus
Hospital Artist-in-Residence: how artists and art therapists work alongside patients, families and care teams, in partnership with hospital wellness leaders
Creative Aging: arts programming that supports connection, purpose and expression in later life, including for people living with dementia and their care partners
Storytelling as a Public Health Tool: how personal and community narratives can build understanding, resilience and health equity
Experiential Art-making Workshops: hands-on sessions where you make, move, write and reflect
Who should attend
Artists, creative arts therapists, healthcare and aging-services professionals, educators, students and anyone working at the intersection of the arts and health. No prior arts experience is required.
