Eileen Amberden

"My decision to concentrate on painting exclusively came in answer to the question, 'If you only had a year to live, what would you be doing?' I feel as if I've been painting to save my sanity. In April 2008, I was diagnosed with inflammatory breast cancer and it's been a long and frightening passage through chemotherapy, double mastectomy and radiation therapy. Thank God I was able to use the skills I've practiced over a lifetime to sidestep the rigors of life threatening cancer and its treatment. Concentrating on what is beautiful helps one to fight the ugliness this disease tries to propagate."
